F is for Foin – A to Z Challenge 2015

F is for Foin.

which means to thrust with a sword or a spear.

Do you know in today’s time what the easiest way to get killed is?
Just write a blog post and if you’re lucky you’ll be next.

Yes, in the past 2 years, couple of bloggers in Bangladesh were brutally stabbed to death for pointing their views via a blog post.

One of the deceased was an American-Bangladeshi activist who was hacked to death with machetes just a few meters away from his house.

It’s my request to you guys to just check the number of bloggers who have been killed, jailed just for pointing their thoughts. I was amazed and disgusted with the number of articles which flooded on my PC.

The culprits were caught red handed, but not all of them. These killings show how scared these organisations are of us writers. If this does not stop, then there would be a killing every week, every month. Something needs to be done.

We have a so called “freedom of expression”. If the thoughts of one person hurt you so much, imagine what a million thoughts can do. The power of writing should never be taken for granted.

Also, it’s said that a pen is mightier than a sword. For the deceased, that did not happen to be true.

Today, I request all of you to show your support to the deceased by writing. Use the following hash-tags.

#IAmAvijit
#BangladeshBloggers
