Here’s the latest news on IPL 2021 Mega Auction and 9th Team

With the successful conclusion of IPL 2020 in UAE amid the COVID-19 challenge, all eyes are currently glued to the IPL mega auction that’s inclined to be held next year. Latest reports from BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) state that it’s likely to hold a mega IPL auction for the coming season.

The biggest talking point of this IPL 2021 Mega Auction is the possibility of a ninth team joining the league.

What will happen in IPL 2021 Mega Auction?

At mega auctions, each of the franchises has the decision to retain 3 important players and get “Right-To-Match” (RTM) choices for 2 players. But, there’s no clarity within the retention policy for this IPL 2021 mega auction.

Before, a few news reports asserted that every cricketer will return in the auction pool. Businesses might need to re-construct their teams from scratch. But that does not sound feasible since it will badly alter the brand worth of successful teams such as Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

9th team in IPL 2021 Mega Auction?

As mentioned earlier, the upcoming IPL 2021 mega auction is likely to add a ninth team. News reports claim that the team will probably be from Ahmadabad. “The Sardar Patel Stadium” will be their home ground.

It is known that some of the prominent business houses are enthusiastic about purchasing this new franchise. Unconfirmed reports said that Adani Group, possessed by Gautam Adani, could be one of the front-runners. But, there’s been no further update on this news.

After the IPL 2021 mega auction takes place, BCCI will soon release the latest IPL 2021 schedule.

Top 5 incidents in IPL 2020 which will have an impact in IPL 2021:

IPL 13 gave us a great deal of drama, game-changing moments, and controversies. Let’s have a look at “Top Five Episodes in IPL 2020” that will have an impact in IPL 2021.

CSK lost its shine:

MS Dhoni’s team lost 8 out of 14 matches in IPL 2020. They also became the first team to bow out from the contest. Now, CSK will aim to reconstruct the group in the IPL 2021 Mega Auction since most of the players are aged 30 and above. Chennai’s plan is to invest in young blood and will want to shed their “Old men” tag. Hence, it’s possible that fans may see an entirely fresh CSK team in this upcoming cash-rich league.

Umpiring mistakes in IPL 2020:

We saw lots of umpiring mistakes in IPL 2020. The largest among this involved umpire Nitin Menon’s contentious ‘short-run’ in the game involving Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals which finally cost KXIP a playoff berth.

KXIP management and several former players such as Virender Sehwag request for higher technical intervention for IPL 2021. BCCI is likely to pay heed and boost the utilization of technology to minimize human error in IPL 2021.

Absence of cricket fans in the stadium:

IPL 2020 in UAE was a mix of excitement, action, and fair-play but due to the pandemic, everyone missed the loud cheers of audiences in the stadiums and confidence-boosting atmosphere.

The governing council of IPL, including Sourav Ganguly, has taken note of this. Since IPL 2021 will take place in India, the committee is most likely to let fans within the stadium while following appropriate guidelines.

Chris Gayle benched for half IPL 2020:

KXIP benched Chris Gayle in the opening half of IPL 2020 even though he’s their best power-hitter. That turned out to be a massive mistake as they dropped six out of seven matches in his absence.

But, Gayle’s return swung luck in favor of the KL Rahul led team who left a late charge towards the playoffs with 5 wins out of 7 on the rebound.

Gayle was able to create a massive impact, scoring 288 runs, such as 3 fifties in just 7 games. The 41-year-old’s addition added firepower into the KXIP middle-order as he batted at No. 3 rather than his usual opener’s spot.

Benching the ‘Universe Boss’ was a huge error that franchises will not dare to replicate in IPL 2021, notably KXIP’s co-owner Ness Wadia who on Thursday affirmed that Gayle will begin from the 1st match in the 2021 season if he stays with Kings XI.

Therefore, franchises in IPL 2021 will not just select players on the grounds of the hefty price tags but will also eye to spend strategically and target cricketers that will provide huge returns without burning a hole in their pockets.

The Knights rule in IPL 2014 – 10 Best Moments

Kolkata Knight Riders won this year’s Indian Premier League that too in style by chasing a total of 200 within 20 overs.

This is the highest ever total chased in any of the IPL finals from 2008 to present.

Here are some prized moments from yesterday’s historic match.

1) The 2 awesome captains pre match pose with the trophy:

2) The 2 awesome co-owners of both the teams:

3) The hero for Punjab; Wriddhiman Saha who scored 115 i.e. a highest score by anyone in a IPL final :

4) Sunil narine, KKR’s most lethal weapon throughout the tournament had let go of international duty (West Indies) to stay with team for the final. Proved worthwhile didn’t it?

5) Manish Pandey, the star for KKR nearly missed out for a century, but won many hearts, and the cup for his team.

6) This man Piyush Chawla got the winning runs.

7) Celebrations Celebrations:

8) KKR Crowned as IPL Champions 2014:

9) Arguably the best opponent in this year’s IPL for any team was Punjab. A good mix of local and international talent gave them the much needed boost to make it to the final.

10) Last but not the least, a smile on the captain’s face, Gautam Gambhir who has led from the front.

I enjoyed the final, and arguably, the better team won.

Crazy Stupid Love For Cricket

This is one of my most laughed about moments in 3 months of internship.

It was IPL 2013, and as we all know, everyone gets busy watching matches.

But unfortunately, my internship started right on the 2nd of May i.e Mid – IPL.

Sad..!!

But that’s how life is.

One fine day, we associates had a lot of work load to be eased out.

That meant, full on working.

But also, the clock had indicated with a warning that it’s 4pm that means… IPL time.

We all guys were cricket buffs, and who would want to miss out a Chennai vs Mumbai match?

But the Manager had delegated some work for us to complete by the end of the day.

Sad as we were, we made a puppy dog face… Sad Puppy

We then got to know through internal sources that the Head of the branch had given a task to the manager.

And instead of doing it himself, he passed it on to us!

So much for authority!

But not that day…

As soon as it was 4.30, we ( daredevils) sneaked outside, to the nearest resto-Bar, and were watching the match.

Then what happened next, was a shock, a blinder, everything.

As soon as a wicket fell, a guy sitting near the screen cheered “Mumbai,….Mumbai”.

The voice sounded familiar.

It was our manager.

Damn..!!

We were surprised, shocked and everything else.

Here he is, enjoying the match, and there we were doing the work he was supposed to do.

He looked at us.

I’m sure he had a dumb faced expression which would even beat the best award for the dumbest expression given ever!

None of us said a word.

The match went on and after the first innings was over, he asked that we all return to work, as tasks had to be completed.

With a faint smile, we walked back.

So much for the love of cricket.

The Things We Do To Watch IPL…!!!

Indian premier league has never failed to get its audience glued towards the screen for 2 months.

P.S – If you happen to travel all over India, & in the months April & May you find people hovering around any random TV Screen, just get the hint.. IPL has begun..!!

Its that time of the year, when everyone happens to ask one question to each other..

SCORE KYA HAI BHAI ?

I have done some things too, not so crazy, but still weird..!!

1) I happened to miss out on a Chennai vs Mumbai game.
My internet pack was exhausted. No balance too.
I happened to sit beside a friend in Church whom i hadn’t spoken too since years.
I said “Hi”… His face brightened up…. He said he had missed our talks.. i interrupted him by asking the score of the match….
Classic rudeness nah..!! 😛
The Things i do for the love of cricket..!!!!

2) Now we all know how Chris Gayle bats.
I am very familiar with the fact that he can start hammering the entire bowling line up one by one when he is in the mood.
That day, i was helping my friend with a university level paper whose prelims were taking place the next day. He had got strict ultimatums from his house, that the TV Connection would be cut off, had he failed..
So i was teaching him, while the TV was on mute mode.
Then Gayle started hammering…
Sixes here.. Sixes there.. Sixes everywhere.
He happened to bat somewhere around 10-15 overs.
Post that, we got glued to the screen, and watched the entire match.
Later, i taught him some more, and we called it a day!!
After his results came out, i got a call + a message completely filled with love & abuses.
he had failed…
Not only did his father cut off the connection, he also shifted the TV to the living room.
Now my friend is found near electronic stores, when he wants to have a match.. 😛

3) Let’s talk about STAR SPORTS:

We all know that a firm needs to keep growing, and keep expanding it’s customer base.
Star sports had once channel.
Now they have 6-7 channels right from Star sports 1,2,3&4 along with HD channels HD1 & 2 etc.

They have revolutionalised how we watch sports.
I always had this hatred towards sports channels not supporting our local cricket, but that hatred turned into respect, as now, if you can’t see an international cricket match, be sure to find an on going Ranji season, or any other local tournament.

Then, I’m a fan of the English premier league too.
So i witnessed these features some time back.
They have it for Football, Hockey, Cricket & Formula 1.
Apart from Hockey, i follow the rest sports ardently.

The main feature i like is the replay section.
Where you can see videos of all matches you missed.
The goals of the week, saves of the week.
That’s new…
Same goes with cricket.
I missed out on the last few overs of the match between RCB vs DD.
Just logged on to star sports.com & watched the highlights right from where i missed it.
You can see, boundaries & sixes of an innings, wickets taken, the best play of the day etc.
So many options, they really want to monopolise their position, and let me tell you, i see them doing a great job.

So now when i miss a match, i am rest assured, Star sports has kept the replays safe for me!!

So to all you cricket lovers… Happy days have arrived… IPL ka bulaava aaya hai..!!!
