M is for Molochize – A to Z Challenge 2017

M is for Molochize which means to sacrifice.

While Easter is just one night away, this word seemed apt to write about.

We often set deals with God.

Oh by deals I mean bargaining or barter systems.

Also we provide him with different types of limited edition offers.

Either we say we will do so and so IF you give me so and so things.

There’s always an IF!

I remember a scene from the movie “Bruce Almighty” where Bruce who becomes God is tired of continuous prayers he gets to hear.

So he devises a plan to get them all into one computer. It looks like this.

While we may agree to disagree, this does look true.

As a result it’s possible he won’t be able to deliver your promises on time.

Although, haven’t you probably given a thought as to maybe that you can do some things by yourself?

Yes,much as you’d hate to admit, you know it’s the truth.

You can ask especially for relevant things/needs.

If you aim properly, almost all of your needs can be fulfilled!

In conclusion, I urge you to make a promise this Easter.

Let’s stop bargaining and cracking deals with the Almighty.

If you can do it yourself, go ahead and do it.

As it’s said “God helps those who help themselves”

That’s all for today!

  • It is absolutely not OK to bargain with God. I do not mean asking God for something; we do that all the time in prayer. We do, however ask God to bless us. But it is too much of a sacrilegious stretch to ask for something in return for our commitment God if you do this for me, I will do that for you!! That’s what many do these days. 😀😀

    • Totally true… And we don’t realize how often we end up doing it. Imagine the horror he might be facing when he checks those mails of prayers. Hehe.

  • Ah the deals that we make! and you right Lance, it is time we stop and learn to help ourselves. God will indeed bless us looking at the efforts that we make. And nice word 🙂

  • On a lighter note- Even God might be confused in selecting the better deals and hence the delay in replies to the prayers. 😀

We humans try to bargain everywhere.

P.S- I am not very much inclined to religious beliefs and prefer the spiritual way of life.

  • this barter system with God is inevitable – I was guilty of it through out my student life! Or even now sometimes!
