L is for Lost – A to Z Challenge 2019

Chandler was lost.

He was nursing a broken heart. His parents were disappointed. His friends gave up on him and he felt like he had nothing to live for. All of this was happening at the age of 21 when you start working on your own.

As his confidence was on an all-time low and no one was interested in his life, Chandler thought he had lost it and it was best that he ends it. He walked upon the ledge of a bridge. Looking up for one last time, he closed his eyes and as he was about to jump, an unfamiliar voice stopped him.

It was a stray dog staring at him and barking.

Chandler visibly confused tried shooing the dog away but that creature wouldn’t budge. He began cursing the dog and even asked why was he so worried about him when no one else cared? After a while, the dog did shut up and fell asleep.

Chandler didn’t understand what was happening so he got off the ledge to check on the dog. There was an open wound that didn’t look good. His heart jumped. Without thinking of anything, he got the dog immediate nursing.

When the vet gave the “all is well” thumbs up to Chandler, he had a smile on his face. He couldn’t remember the last time he smiled. He touched the dog and got a lick on his palm. The dog looked at him with such love. Chandler felt something that he didn’t in a long time.

You’re in good hands now Bailey, he said!

And that’s how the happy story of Chandler and Bailey began!
