Food Review – Art House, The Fern Residency

Art House is located at the lobby level of Fern Residency in Chembur.

There’s a good level of ambiance, a decent portion of both Indian and International cuisine.

They also have a buffet menu all week.

I happened to visit this place with a friend and we’re glad we got to try the food here.

Location and proximity from Station:

Firstly, this place is not more than a 10 minute rickshaw ride from Chembur station.

Also, if you want to try the Mono rail option, that would take you almost the same time right from walking from the station to the monorail and reaching the restaurant.

Ambiance and seating:

The Art House is located on the lobby level of the Fern Residency.

They have a fully stocked bar to the right and the tables to the left.

They can seat around 20-30 people with ease.

Also, there’s no space congestion as such and the buffet spread is at the far end of the lobby.

Food and Drinks (Appetizers):

Although they have a buffet spread, their menu also has a lot of variety right from Indian to Chinese to Continental and also good choices for cocktails, mock-tails and desserts.

Here’s what we tried;

Fern Garden: This gin based cocktail has a lot of lime juice and sugar syrup but less of Bombay Sapphire Gin. If the gin had more quantity, it could have overpowered the drink altogether. Maybe an off day, but they can surely improve on this.

Manhattan: This bourbon whisky based cocktail is true to its word. It’s bitter. But has a peculiar taste which a whisky lover would like to try.

Apple Mojito: We tried both; the alcoholic and the non-alcoholic mojitos. Both were amazing and must be tried. The combination of alcohol with mint and soda always works.

Chicken Tandoori: I like my tandoori and the taste too. Here I was made to wait over 20 minutes for it to arrive. But the wait was worth every penny. It was grilled perfectly and also had the regular taste of tandoori which we crave for. Recommended.

Arabic Mezze Platter: I always like trying the mezze platter. The hummus, moutabel and pita bread with olives is a combination people must try experimenting with. Yes, it’s possible you might not like it on the first try, but slowly it does creep into you. Here, the platter was decent but they could get better taste wise.

Lal Mirch Ka Paneer Tikka: Now for those who like Paneer, this one’s a must have. The paneer was soft, had all the masala along with bell peppers,onion and pudina chutney for company.

Main Course:

Parsley crusted Basa with Dill Cream Sauce: Grilled fish with a creamy textured sauce and steamed rice for company. There are veggies too served which was the highlight for me. The dish overall is complete and must be tried.

Ham and Cheese grilled Chicken: One of the best dishes of the day. Boneless chicken pieces stuffed and also served with ham sauce and cheese. Here too there are veggies for company. Overall, such dishes are a must on every table.

Desserts:

We tried 2 of the 6 options present in the menu.

Chocolate Ring Fruit custard: Perhaps their best choice on the menu. Fruits blended with custard has a delicious taste. This custard is stuffed within a chocolate glass type structure. Loved it totally.

Moong Dal Halwa: I tried this as my friend likes it. This one’s on the heavier side. Tasty and a must for those who like it.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, I like this place. Art House has a good menu and also good buffet options for you to have a good time with your family.

Yes they can definitely work out on their cocktails. Otherwise it’s quite decent

Pricing for their buffet menu: (Monday to Saturday)

Lunch – 635++

Dinner – 720++
